Teheran
From June 5 to September 4, the Imam Ali Religious Arts Museum in Teheran exhibited the work cycle „Homage to Hafez“. After making station at the Hafez Mausoleum and the Central Library in Shiraz, the citizens of the Iranian capital Tehran got the possibility to enjoy Uecker’s 42 pictures inspired by the rhythm and bright colours of the country. During the ceremonious opening of the exhibition, also the catalogue accompanying the artwork was introduced. The elaborate art book in German, English and Farsi gives an emotional insight into this exceptional art project, with many pictures, as well as sometimes very personal texts of the President of the Bundestag Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, the former Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Iran Michael von Ungern-Sternberg, the Iranian art historian Ehsan Aghaee, exhibition coordinator Afshin Derambakhsh and Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger, President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. After the exhibition, Günther Uecker provided the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMoCA) with a graphic cycle numbered in Farsi. So, a part of the art work remains forever in Hafez’ homeland.
